Dangerous Driving Charges, Paradise Point

Police have charged a man following investigations into a stolen truck from Paradise Point yesterday morning, 2 September.

It will be alleged around 11am the man has stolen a Izuzu FRR truck, which was parked on Ephriam Island Bridge.

It will be further alleged around 12.30pm the stolen vehicle was involved in a hit and run accident with a Mercedes-Benz C200 on Hope Island Road. The driver of the Mercedes was not physically injured.

It will be alleged around 1.30pm the man has abandoned the vehicle on Ferry Road, Southport, before fleeing on foot with police arresting the man a short time later after a foot chase.

A 24-year-old Coomera man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without a driver licence, fail to comply with duties of driver involved in a crash and obstruct police officer.

The man was remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 3 September.
