Darren Coggan returns to his country roots Like a Rhinestone Cowboy

Multi award winning performer Darren Coggan returns to his country roots with ‘Like A Rhinestone Cowboy’, delivering the vocal authenticity and guitar prowess of the great Glen Campbell.

Darren will perform his personal tribute to one of the biggest stars of the 60s and 70s at Griffith Regional Theatre on Saturday 26 October.

In a career that spanned 6 decades Campbell had a string of hits including Gentle On My Mind, Wichita Lineman, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, Try A Little Kindness, Galveston, Rhinestone Cowboy and many more.

Coggan’s performance reflects the multiple talents of the man who was a chart-topping singer, hit television host and in demand studio guitarist, contributing to many landmark recordings of his time.

Darren explains “That’s Glen’s rhythm line on Sinatra’s ‘Strangers in the Night’, his guitar rocks out on the ‘Viva Las Vegas’ soundtrack album by Presley and he grooved on the Beach Boys’ landmark album ‘Pet Sounds’.

“Glen Campbell has always been an inspiration to me, from a very early age, he was the reason I wanted to be a country singer. I had the honour of touring with Glen on his Australian tour in 1997 and heard first-hand some of the many stories and anecdotes that we share with our audience,” he added.

Manager of Griffith Regional Theatre, Raina Savage, said Glen Campbell was a true legend, who finally bowed out at the age of 81 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

“He leaves behind an expansive legacy that has been re-created live, through the incredible talent of Darren Coggan.”
