Darwin business Top End Chilly Co. has won an Australian Good Design Award for its Chilly Platter
The platter was designed to keep food cold and protected in the Top End heat, made for the Territory lifestyle
The owners are now planning to grow into interstate and overseas markets
Two Darwin businesswomen have won an Australian Good Design Award for their innovative entertainment platter which keeps everyone’s favourite, a cheese and antipasto platter, cool and fresh, even in the Tropical Top End.
Top End Chilly Co-founders, Sarah Foyster and Krystal Fish, have won the Product Design Award in the Housewares and Objects category for the Chilly Platter, a stainless-steel platter with an insulated cooling system and lid that keeps food cold for hours and bug and dust free!
The best friends launched the business in 2023 bringing the Chilly Platter to market in December 2025. With new products scheduled for release in coming months, they plan to grow their footprint both interstate and overseas and expand their primarily online business model into wholesale.
Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations Robyn Cahill said the win showed what Territory businesses can achieve.
“Winning an Australian Good Design Award is a tremendous achievement and a testament to the hard work Sarah and Krystal have put in.”
“They saw a gap in the market, designed a product that filled that gap and put it all on the line to bring that product to market. That takes guts and tenacity and the result, the Chilly Platter is a game changer for outdoor living not just in the Territory but for lovers of the outdoors everywhere,” Minister Cahill said.
Sarah and Krystal said the idea came from their own experience after moving to the Territory.
“We asked local ladies what they did and they said to ‘eat it really quick’ but we knew that there had to be a better option,” they said.
“From our earliest prototypes to selling at Mindil Beach Sunset Market, the feedback and support from locals have played a huge role in helping us improve the product and grow the business.”
“Winning an Australian Good Design Award is a huge honour for us. For a product that began as an idea between two Territory mums, it is incredibly exciting to see it recognised on this level.”
