NT Government

The Darwin Salties men’s team is off to the quarter finals this weekend after finishing sixth on the ladder.

On Saturday night the Salties will play their first quarter final in the NBL1 North Conference against USC Rip City in the Sunshine Coast.

There are 70 NBL1 Clubs across Australia and the Darwin Salties have the highest attendance and the most digital view of all the clubs.

To continue to support and advance the Salties, the Darwin Basketball Association is one of 52 organisations across the NT which received funding as part of the latest round of Community Benefit Fund Major Grants.

The grants support a range of events, infrastructure upgrades, and new equipment.

Darwin Basketball Association received $100,000 which will be used towards, upgrading seating in the grandstand. A 344-seat portable grandstand will be installed between courts 1 and 2, increasing the overall crowd capacity for events to more than 1300.

Upgrading facilities and increasing the capacity of the Darwin Basketball stadium not only provides improved spectator experiences, it means we are able to attract high-profile teams and puts Darwin on the agenda as a serious sports destination – having a flow-on effect that benefits the NT economy at every level.
