Mitchell Shire Council has been made aware of a data breach on Friday 12 April involving ‘OracleCMS’, the after-hours call service provider.
OracleCMS handles calls made to Council’s customer service line outside of standard business hours. A number of other local councils and agencies were also affected.
Mitchell Shire Council CEO Brett Luxford said Council was still determining the full scope and nature of the data involved in the breach.
“We are working with the Department of Government Services Cyber Security Unit and OracleCMS to fully understand the impact of this breach,” he said.
“At this stage, there is no evidence to suggest that sensitive personal information has been compromised.
“Our priority is the privacy and security of our customers’ data. We are exploring additional security measures and enhancing our data protection protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
“Should there be any impact on our customers’ data, we will take immediate action to notify and support those affected.”
Council is committed to transparency and will keep customers informed about any developments.
