David Crisafulli has this morning released the LNP’s post-election cut list, with health projects and energy assets the first to go under any future LNP Government.
Deputy Premier Steven Miles said that David Crisafulli and the LNP have learned nothing since their time in Campbell Newman’s government.
“David Crisafulli cannot be trusted with Queensland’s assets and services – just like his former boss Campbell Newman,” the Deputy Premier said.
“Posting on Facebook this morning to have a go at the Palaszczuk Government’s proud record of delivering more services, the LNP have said the quiet part out loud.
“Construction costs have increased, you either fund the increased cost or you cut the projects and slash the tens of thousands of jobs they are supporting.
“If the LNP was in Government, they wouldn’t have opened new schools, including Caloundra South State School and Brisbane South State Secondary College, leaving students and our hard-working teachers worse off.
“David Crisafulli talks a big game on health for someone who served in a government that sacked 4,400 frontline health workers.
“We can now reveal his plan to cut Queensland’s seven Satellite Hospitals, ambulance stations, the Gold Coast Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit, and the Thursday Island Hospital.
“Regional Queenslanders remember what the LNP did last time, and regional Queensland is on their hit list again.
“Regional sports facilities and health services will be cut, including the Goondiwindi Hospital and the stadium in Rocky. On top of that, Townsville wouldn’t even have a new stadium.
“The LNP would cut Gold Coast Light Rail stage 3.
“Most worrying of all, they’ve listed CopperString 2.0 on their cuts list, risking thousands of jobs in construction and in the manufacturing supply chain.
“If David Crisafulli becomes Premier this list will only be the beginning.”
Construction costs have surged over the last 12 months. According to Infrastructure Australia the cost increases in just one year have been over 40% for reinforcing steel and structural timber.
