Default Market Offer directions paper: have your say

We’d like your feedback on the directions for the Default Market Offer (DMO) and Reference Price for electricity retailers.

In some jurisdictions, the Default Market Offer caps the price that electricity retailers can charge consumers on standing offers. It also sets a Reference Price that customers can use to compare energy plans from different retailers. The DMO and Reference Price are implemented through the Competition and Consumer (Industry Code – Electricity Retail) Regulations 2019.

This is the second stage of the Code’s post-implementation review. You can see non-confidential submissions to the first round of consultation on our consultation hub.

We have used these submissions to develop directions that will improve the Code’s effectiveness. We now want your views on these new directions.

Read the directions paper and provide feedback by visiting our consultation hub.

Submissions close on 2 February 2022.
