Delivering Homes For Tasmanian Veterans

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government is getting on with the job to deliver six new homes for veterans.

Lyden Builders has been contracted to develop the new homes at Chigwell for RSL Tasmania.

The development application was lodged with the Glenorchy City Council last week.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said these purpose-built homes were vitally important.

“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we’re delivering more homes for Tasmanians,” Minister Vincent said.

“Our veterans have served our country, preserved our freedoms and it is important that we provide them with the housing support they deserve.”

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Gavin Pearce, said these homes are a true representation of collaboration.

“These homes will change lives,” Minister Pearce said.

“A stable roof delivered by the RSL, in partnership with the Tasmanian and Australian Governments shows just how seriously we all take this.

“We have approximately 17,500 veterans in Tasmania, and supporting as many of them as we can into stable accommodation is a win for the entire community.”

Subject to approvals, construction is expected to commence in early 2027.
