Delivering on commitment to increase funding to local arts organisations

The 2026-27 ACT Budget increased funding available to local arts organisations by 25%.

Today the ACT Government is announcing the 29 local arts organisations that will share in this increased investment, including three organisations receiving funding through the Emerging Artists program stream for the first time.

The Arts Organisations Investment Program provides multi-year funding through a competitive process, supporting organisations that deliver strong outcomes for Canberra’s artists, arts workers, audiences and communities.

Minister for Arts, Creative Industries and the Night-Time Economy Michael Pettersson said the investment would support organisations working across Canberra and across disciplines including dance, theatre, music and the visual arts.

“Our local arts organisations give life and colour to our city,” Minister Pettersson said.

“They support local jobs and artist development, and give Canbrerrans more opportunities to experience and participate in the arts.”

“We went to the 2024 election with a promise that we would increase funding available to these valued organisations. We delivered that commitment in the Budget, and today we’re delivering the increased funding directly to Canberra’s arts sector.”

“I’m also pleased to see new organisations, including Mill Theatre, joining the program, broadening the range of organisations and creative practice supported by the ACT Government.”
