Deprivation of liberty in Augustine Heights, QLD

A man has been charged after being found hiding in the boot of a white BMW sedan he forced the owner to drive at knifepoint in Augustine Heights yesterday.

Around 6.30am, police were called to Conlan Court about a man acting suspiciously and trespassing in a number of properties.

When officers arrived at one residence, they were alerted by a 17-year-old boy who informed them the man had knocked on the door and forced it open on the 45-year-old woman inside.

The man then allegedly threatened the woman with a knife, before crawling into the boot of the sedan and forced her to drive away from the property.

The teenage boy provided a description of the vehicle and officers were able pull it over outside the Springfield Police Station.

Officers located the man hiding inside the rear of the sedan and he was arrested without incident.

The woman sustained a leg injury and is receiving follow up medical treatment. The boy was unhurt.

A 27-year-old Kallangur man has been charged with deprivation of liberty, burglary with violence, armed robbery and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is expected to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
