Penrith City Council is one step closer to transforming Cook Park in St Marys with the appointment of a design and construction contractor.
Glascott was selected to deliver the next stages of the project. The company brings a wealth of experience in shaping Australia’s urban landscapes including Regatta Park in Emu Plains and Gipps Street Recreation Precinct in Claremont Meadows.
The multi-million-dollar project will revitalise Cook Park’s main field with a new synthetic playing surface, upgraded floodlighting and additional seating, as well as a refurbishment to the existing grandstand. This project also includes a new amenities building to support the growth of football in the region and encourage inclusive participation in sport.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the appointment of Glascott marks a significant milestone for the Cook Park project.
“We are excited to be progressing the transformation of Cook Park into a high-quality sport and recreation precinct that will provide the critical infrastructure needed to support the growth of St Marys,” Cr Carney said.
“Cook Park is a popular sporting hub with over 175,000 annual visitors using the facilities for local, regional and state sporting competitions, school holidays clinics, events and casual recreation.
“The upgrades to the precinct will deliver modern football facilities to support local players, families and fans now and into the future,” Cr Craney said.
This project is funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program and the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program, in partnership with Council.
Other improvements in the precinct include the completion of the Cook Park playspace upgrade earlier this year.
Construction is expected to commence in early 2027.
