Detectives arrest four people following series of aggravated home invasions

Western Region Crime Squad detectives have arrested and charged four people following a series of violent aggravated home invasions in Western Victoria in February.

As part of the investigation a man, teenager and a woman, were arrested by the Special Operations Group at a property in Sutton Street in Maryborough on Tuesday 20 February about 2.50pm.

A second woman handed herself into a local police station later in the day.

When the woman was arrested, she handed over the keys to the car she arrived in – an allegedly stolen 2015 Mercedes SK35; believed to have been stolen in an aggravated burglary in Kennington earlier this month.

The arrests follow an extensive investigation following four aggravated home invasions at properties in:

• Green Street Carisbrook on 7 February

• Poplar Street Golden Square on 9 February

• Vale Street, Sebastopol on 10 February, and

• Smeaton Road in Clunes on 19 February.

A 34-year-old woman and 26-year-old man, both of no fixed address, have each been charged with four counts of aggravated home invasion, kidnapping and firearm offences.

A 26-year-old woman from Maryborough has been charged with three counts of aggravated burglary and the 17-year-old boy has been charged with one count of aggravated burglary.

The man and two women have all been remanded to appear before Bendigo Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 21 February.

The teenager will appear before a children’s court.
