Detectives investigate Carlton attempted carjacking

Detectives from the Melbourne Embona Robbery Task Force are investigating following an attempted carjacking in Carlton earlier this year.

Investigators have been told the victim, a 33-year-old St Albans man, was driving out of a service station at about 8.30pm on 6 June when a man opened the door and attempted to pull him from the vehicle.

The offender was unable to pull the victim from the car as he was wearing his seatbelt.

The victim was un-injured

The offender fled east along Elgin Street towards Nicholson Street.

It’s believed he then committed a burglary on a house in Elgin Street about 100m from the service station.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, 35 to 45-years-old, 180cm, medium build, wearing a black beanie, dark blue jacket, dark pants and white New Balance runners.

Detectives have released images of the man they believe can assist with their enquiries in relation to the incident.
