Detectives investigate Monash Freeway carjacking

Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating following a carjacking in Dandenong this morning (2 April).

Investigators have been told a woman was waiting in traffic on the on-ramp to the Monash Freeway about 8am.

It’s understood a man driving a silver Mitsubishi Lancer tried to push his way through the queue, crashing his vehicle into other cars before abandoning it.

He then approached the woman’s car, which was at the front of the waiting traffic, and assaulted her with a fire extinguisher before fleeing in her vehicle.

The 34-year-old Cranbourne South woman sustained minor injuries during the incident and later presented herself to hospital.

Police since recovered the woman’s car, a white 1998 Holden Commodore, on Botanical Drive, Doveton.

The offender is described as about 180cm tall with a slim build, and was wearing a grey hoodie.
