Detectives investigate suspicious house fire in Brighton

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating if a suspicious fire at a heritage-listed Brighton property in May is linked to an earlier fire.

The Black Street property was damaged by a fire in October 2015. Police are yet to confirm a nexus between the two fires but have not ruled out a connection.

Emergency services were called to the Black Street property around 2.20am on 16 May.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find the double storey building issuing smoke and flames. The house was extensively damaged, and this fire is being treated as suspicious.

The property was vacant on both occasions.

A person has previously contacted Crime Stoppers regarding this matter and police believe there are others who also have information. Police are urging these people, or anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
