Detectives release CCTV images after man injured in Haymarket

Police are appealing for information after a man was injured at Haymarket this morning.

About 9.25am (Sunday 3 February 2019), a 28-year-old man was walking through a pedestrian tunnel attached to Central Railway Station at Haymarket, when he was approached by an unknown man.

Police have been told the pair had a verbal altercation, before the unknown man, armed with a knife, slashed the 28-year-old in the face and left the scene on a bicycle.

The injured man suffered facial lacerations and was treated at the scene before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and as part of their investigation, they have released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is depicted as having an olive complexion, aged in his 20s or 30s, of average build, with dark hair.

He was last seen wearing an orange high-visibility vest, black long-sleeved hooded jumper, green army style pants, and black baseball cap.

The man was carrying a black back pack, white helmet and white carry back when riding his bicycle.
