Detectives return to Condell Park crime scene as inquiries into shooting murder continue, NSW

Criminal Groups Squad investigators are conducting a secondary canvass of a crime scene, and are reappealing to the community for information, following the shooting murder of a man at Condell Park last month.

About 7.30am on Monday 19 October 2020, emergency services were called to Simmat Avenue at Condell Park, following reports of a shooting.

A man was located nearby with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.

The man was later formally identified as 44-year-old, Mejid Hamzy.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad established Strike Force Courier to investigate the shooting murder.

In conjunction with the investigation, Strike Force Raptor commenced a high-visibility police operation to suppress further acts of violence following recent public place shootings.

As part of ongoing investigations, detectives from the Criminal Groups Squad have returned to Condell Park to conduct further inquiries at Simmat Avenue and surrounding streets from 4pm today (Tuesday 10 November 2020).

A secondary canvass of the area will be conducted, as detectives continue to explore several lines of inquiry relating to the shooting murder.

As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with information, or who may have dashcam footage from the Condell Park area between 6am and 8am on Monday 19 October 2020, to come forward.
