Dirt bikes impounded after dangerous driving incidents

Nelson Police have impounded four dirt bikes following incidents of dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour in Nelson Bays.

The dirt bikes had failed to stop for Police in the incidents, but Police investigation led to them being located and the bikes seized.

Four riders have been referred to Youth Aid.

Police are concerned around the number of reported incidents relating to dirt bikes and will continue to target riders who place the public, other road users and themselves at risk.

Acting Inspector Hamish Chapman, Nelson Police says “Police and partner agencies work hard to ensure we keep our communities safe, and we will continue to actively target those involved in anti-social and criminal activity.”

We need local communities to help us address unlawful behaviour in our region.

Anyone with further information relating to dirt bike riders illegally on our roads are asked to help Police by phoning 111 if it is happening now and 105 after the fact.
