Disqualified driver charged after being caught driving with children in vehicle, NSW

A disqualified driver has been charged after being caught driving with four children in the vehicle in Sydney’s west today.

About 11.20am (Thursday 27 August 2020), Traffic and Highway Patrol officers attached to Strike Force Puma were patrolling the Green Valley area when they noticed Holden Cruze travelling on Rundle Road.

Officers stopped the vehicle for a random breath test where it was established the driver was disqualified until August 2021. Checks revealed the driver was also wanted on an outstanding revocation of parole warrant.

Police noticed four children, aged between one and six, in the vehicle, three not occupying an approved child seat.

The driver, a 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

He was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, two counts of drive with child between 4 and 7 years old not restrained as prescribed, and drive with child between 6 months and 4 years old not restrained as prescribed.

The outstanding warrant was also executed.

The man appeared at Liverpool Local Court today and was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Friday 11 September 2020.
