Disturbance in Darwin

A man is assisting police with enquiries following an incident at a hotel on Shepard Street in Darwin earlier today.

Around 5:30am police were alerted by staff in relation to a disturbance at the hotel involving a guest.

It is alleged the man was causing a disturbance and when asked to leave by staff, that he tore a gas cylinder from its connection resulting in a gas leak.

Staff and guests self-evacuated the building until NTFRS arrived and declared the area safe. A 34-year-old man was arrested by police at the scene.

No one was injured during the disturbance and investigations surrounding the incident continue.
