Dog Operations has great success

The Dog Operations Unit had a busy week leading into Christmas with a particularly successful day yesterday.

It began with Dog Handler Warfield and Drug Detection Dog Kobi seizing a traffickable quantity of cannabis at a residence in the East Arnhem Region. The pair also seized a number of items indicative of drug supply, resulting in two male offenders being arrested and later charged with drug related offences.

Both males, aged 47 and 53, were remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 28 December 2022.

The pair continued their good work throughout the day issuing four infringements and making a number of seizures for drug related offences in the community.

In one case a pair of males were allegedly witnessed supplying illicit substances outside of the local police station.

Senior Sergeant Emma Carter said “This was fantastic work by Kobi and her handler. The supply of illicit substances into vulnerable communities has a devastating flow on effect and police will continue to target offenders who attempt to distribute and supply these substances.

“Anyone with information on the supply of alcohol or drugs to our communities can call police on 131 444 or make an anonymously report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
