Domestic violence charges, Regency Downs

Gatton police have charged a 37-year-old man following a series of alleged serious domestic violence incidents.

A 42-year-old woman reported several incidents to police on March 12, including allegations of assault and strangulation.

Police worked with the woman to develop a safety plan as investigations commenced.

Around 5.30pm yesterday, police received information the man was at a Regency Downs property.

The man was located lying in the roof space of the house. Upon being noticed, the man allegedly got up and ran at police.

He was taken into custody and charged with four counts of contravening a domestic violence order and three counts of choking (domestic violence offence). The man was also charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily hard (domestic violence offence) and obstructing police.

The man was refused police bail and will appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today, March 14.
