This Saturday Rockhampton Regional Council is hosting a Recycling Fair littered with free family fun – so come along to help celebrate!
The Recycling Fair is a part of National Recycling Week and will be held at Reviva Ibis Shop at Lakes Creek Road Waste Management Facility from 8am-4pm.
Waste and Recycling Councillor Shane Latcham said it is important we work together as a community to contribute positively to our environmental footprint.
“Whether it’s in your workplace or at home, recycling has become an everyday task for most people but there is always more we can do,” Cr Latcham said.
“Events like the recycling fair are not only about coming together as a community, but it is a chance to educate and learn about our recycling responsibilities.
“Bring the whole family to enjoy free fun including reuse workshops, upcycling displays, a unique item auction and face painting.
“For a refresher on what things go in which bin, head along and see the team in the Waste-Ed tent – they can help with all things recycling.
“There will also be a coffee and donut van and a sausage sizzle to support our local community.
“There’s more than just your yellow-lid wheelie bin for recycling. Attend the Recycling Fair to see for yourself where to drop-off other recyclable items for free at the Lakes Creek Road Waste Management Facility,” Cr Latcham said.
Reviva Ibis is operated by national social enterprise Resource Recovery Australia.
Resource Recovery Australia Rockhampton Manager David Hay said the team were excited to see reuse become more common in Rockhampton.
“National Recycling Week is the perfect opportunity for us to welcome the entire Rockhampton Community to Reviva Ibis to celebrate reuse and recycling,” said Mr Hay.
“Locals can join in the fun to learn about reuse, connect with our community and do their part for the environment.”
