Corangamite Shire’s Draft Council Plan 2021-2025 and Annual Action Plan 2021-2022 are now available for public comment.

Mayor Ruth Gstrein said the four-year Council plan would have a major role in Council’s Budgets and activities.

“The Council Plan is the big-picture strategy that guides all of our service areas,” Cr Gstrein said.

“It is always front of mind when we’re deciding on Budget allocations, policies and procedures. The Annual Action Plan breaks down specific steps towards achieving the overall goals.

“Putting it all down on paper keeps Council accountable and makes sure we deliver on things that we say we’ll do.”

The Draft Council Plan lists 38 priorities across five themes:

  • A Connected Community
  • A Thriving Community
  • A Healthy, Active and Resilient Community
  • Improving Our Environment
  • Community Leadership

The Annual Action Plan details has more than 80 specific goals with target completion dates.

All Councils are required to prepare and adopt a four-year Council Plan by 31 October in the year following a general election.

Cr Gstrein said the plan showed where the Council and community will be in 2026.

“This Council Plan focuses on issues that are important to our residents,” she said.

“Our mission is to foster opportunities, celebrate our identity and lifestyle, and provide high quality and responsive services.

“We will manage the opportunities and challenges facing Corangamite Shire to ensure that we improve the lives of people through teamwork, integrity and respect, with a focus on providing value to ratepayers.”

The Draft Council Plan 2021-2025 and Annual Action Plan 2021-2022 can be found here or in hard copy at the Civic Centre in Camperdown.
