Draft Creeklands Masterplan on Public Exhibition

A draft masterplan for the Armidale Creeklands developed in 2018 is now available for community input on Council’s yoursay.armidale.nsw.gov.au online engagement hub.

At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday the Interim Administrator recommended the draft plan be placed on Public Exhibition immediately. Council is now accepting submissions from the community for the next 28 days from Thursday 20 August to Thursday 17 September 2020.

In 2018 Council engaged consultants McGregor Coxall to deliver a master plan in consultation with the community that will enhance liveability of the city through integration of the creek and its associated ecology with urban design principles and the creation of useable, enjoyable and safe public spaces.

The area of the master plan follows Dumaresq Creek and includes the adjacent parkland areas east to Taylor Street and west to Albion Park opposite the Armidale Tafe.

Interim Administrator Viv May said the scope of the masterplan along the creeklands in the Armidale CBD incorporates a well utilised and popular open space for the community in need of significant revitalisation.

“The draft masterplan includes a number of recommendations that will significantly enhance the area and unlock the cultural, social, recreational, environmental and tourism potential of the area while addressing the environmental and hydrological impact, public safety, flooding and maintenance,” said Mr May.

“The masterplan was developed in 2018 and incorporated significant community and key stakeholder input and it is imperative that the draft plan is able to be reviewed by those members in the community that worked so hard on its development.”

The draft Armidale Creeklands Masterplan is available to view on yoursay.armidale.nsw.gov.auor hard copies are also on display in Council’s Customer Service areas at 135 Rusden Street, Armidale or 158 Bradley Street, Guyra.
