Dream festival back in 2023

Dubbo’s DREAM Festival is set to return in 2023, moving from its former October schedule to run from Saturday 2 September to Saturday 30 September 2023.

Arts lovers will be spoiled for choice with a range of shows and exhibitions to attend across the four week long event.

Among the highlights is the return of Zoocoustic at Taronga Western Plains Zoo which mixes the sounds of wildlife with beautiful acoustic music while the DREAM Lantern Parade and Festival will bring together music, markets and incredible illuminated artworks, with more to still be announced in the lead up to the month-long festival.

“It really is a unique experience for both residents and visitors, and I think I speak for plenty of people in saying I can’t wait to see what else will be in the program,” Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson said.

With so many local artists in the spotlight the event is also one that Macquarie Credit Union are once again proud to be part of.

“We have demonstrated through almost 60 years of operation our commitment to supporting the community we serve. The Dream Festival is a passion of ours, it’s a journey we have been on since its inception and we clearly recognise the important role it plays in celebrating and connecting our community,” said Justin Bice, CEO of Macquarie Credit Union.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said he is proud the previous NSW Government had committed to providing $30,000 each year for three years through the Destination NSW’s Flagship Event Fund.

“Thank you to Council, and the other organisations and volunteers involved, who all work tirelessly to make the DREAM Festival a reality,” Mr Saunders said.

“Events like the DREAM Festival are what’s so great about living in regional communities like ours!”

The countdown to this year’s DREAM Festival is well and truly on, following the official launch on Wednesday 3 May at Victoria Park.

With former DREAM Festival Committee member Anne Field in attendance, as well as representatives from partners and sponsors Taronga Western Plains Zoo and Macquarie Credit Union, this year’s event will be on that community members will want to highlight in their diaries.

Entertainment at the launch was provided by former members of Circus West. The group wrapped up last year however made a special appearance at the launch.
