Drink driver blows 0.261 after crash, South Australia

A drink driver was caught at more than five times the legal limit at Mount Barker this afternoon.

Police pulled over a vehicle at Mount Barker about 6.10pm on Sunday 21 April for a mobile driver test. The driver, a 45-year-old Mount Barker man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.261. He was reported for drink driving and issued with an instant 12 month loss of licence.

His vehicle was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Hills Fleurieu Highway Patrol are also investigating an earlier crash where the man’s car rear-ended another vehicle on the South Eastern Freeway at Bridgewater about 5.30pm.

Fortunately, the young family in the other car were not injured in the collision.

Police are pleading with drivers not to drink and drive and to take care on our roads, especially this long weekend when many families are on the State’s roads and highways.
