Drink driver crashes into police car, South Australia

A man has been reported for drink driving after he reversed into a police car at Seaview Downs this morning.

Just before 11am on Monday 14 January, police had stopped on Ocean Boulevard to assist a motorist in a Holden sedan who had broken down. At that time another motorist in a Suzuki sedan had pulled in behind the Holden.

As police were assisting the driver of the Holden, the Suzuki driver reversed back into the front of police car causing minor damage before driving off.

Police stopped the car a short distance away and breath tested and returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.263 – more than five times the legal limit.

The 38-year-old from Trott Park was reported for reverse without due care, disobey reasonable direction, fail to exchange particulars and drink driving and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

He was also issued with an immediate 12 month loss of licence and his Suzuki was impounded for 28 days.

No one was injured.
