Drink driver intercepted in Sunshine North

Police have intercepted a vehicle overnight in Sunshine North following reports of an erratic driver travelling on Ballarat Road about 8.30pm last night.

Numerous calls were made to Triple zero (000) after the ute was seen swerving all over the road, almost colliding with other vehicles.

Police observed a vehicle matching the description cut across a median strip, narrowly missing a power pole.

The ute was intercepted on McIntyre Road and the male driver was removed from the vehicle.

A preliminary breath test was conducted at the scene which returned a positive reading.

The driver was then conveyed to the police station where he returned an evidentiary breath test of 0.328, more than six times the legal limit.

His vehicle was impounded for 30 days and her licence was immediately suspended.

The 30-year-old Sunshine North man is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving, drive in a manner dangerous and other traffic related offences.
