Drink driver more than seven times limit 14 December, South Australia

A drink driver was caught with more than seven times the legal blood alcohol limit at Pooraka overnight.

Just before 4.30am on Monday 14 December, a patrol was flagged down by a concerned motorist on Main North Road, Pooraka reporting a vehicle driving erratically that had gone through a red light.

The patrol quickly located the red Holden sedan travelling south on Main North Road, Pooraka, weaving across three lanes.

They pulled over the vehicle and the driver, a 24-year-old Salisbury Park man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.359 – more than seven times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving and issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence. His vehicle was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court.

Police would like to hear from any drivers who saw this vehicle on Main North Road in the early hours of this morning, or who have dashcam footage of his driving. Also, they ask the member of the public who flagged down the patrol to please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, in their haste to intercept the dangerous driver they were unable to grab his details.
