Drinking Water Outage – West Ballina

Drinking Water Outage - West Ballina

Ballina Shire Council wish to advise that the drinking water service will be temporarily unavailable for some residents in West Ballina from 9.30am to 3pm on Thursday 11 November 2021. During this time no drinking water will be available via internal or external water outlets.

This temporary water outage will impact properties on Riverview Avenue, Riverside Drive and Howard Crescent.

Our water team will be replacing a broken stop valve, which is necessary to meet operational needs and continue Council’s Water Loss Management Program in West Ballina.

Managing water loss is important to reduce unnecessary losses between the water network and the point of delivery to the customer. The Water Loss Management Program is an important measure to save water, chemicals and energy

Tips to prepare for a temporary water outage:

  • Store drinking water in preparation for the interruption.
  • When water returns it may be discoloured. This is due to sediment. Please run the tap until your water runs clear.
  • Your water may appear milky. This is caused by small air bubbles. Don’t be alarmed it is not harmful, and will settle in a short period.
  • Please leave taps off during the interruption, as water may return at any time.

Ballina Shire Council thanks impacted residents for their patience during these essential works..
