Driver caught driving more than nine times legal limit at Waterfall, NSW

A woman driving with a suspended licence while her son was a passenger in her car has been charged with high-range drink driving in Sydney’s south.

About 4.35pm yesterday (Friday 27 March 2020), officers from Sutherland Shire Traffic and Highway Patrol Command detected the woman driving a Toyota Hilux on the Princes Highway at Waterfall.

The womans’ vehicle was stopped and she was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.

She was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station, where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.182.

The 44-year-old Thirroul woman was charged with high-range driving and driving a motor vehicle whilst her licence was suspended.

As a suspended driver, the woman is subject to a blood alcohol limit of 0.02. The breath analysis reading allegedly returned by the woman put her at over nine times her legal limit.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 30 April l 2020.

Police have completed a child at risk notification to Family and Community Services.
