Driver caught travelling at 233km/h

A Greenvale man has immediately had his driver’s licence suspended after being clocked at alleged speeds of more than 200km/h in Werribee last night.

The vehicle was first observed by police being driven erratically on the Princes Freeway in Laverton just before 7.30pm.

The police Air Wing monitored the vehicle which was allegedly travelling at 233km/h just prior to the Duncans Road exit.

The driver then turned into oncoming traffic for a short period before executing a u-turn and travelling back towards the city.

Stop sticks were deployed on Kirkstone Road in Point Cook and police followed the vehicle into a dead-end parking area off Darsham Crescent.

The driver stopped the vehicle and was arrested without further incident.

The 23-year-old has been charged with conduct endangering life, speed dangerous, manner dangerous, evade police and exceed speed limit.

He has been bailed to appear in Werribee Magistrates’ Court on 27 February, 2023.

The impound relates to Operation Scoreboard which will run state-wide from 12:01am Wednesday 21 September to 11:59pm Sunday 25 September.
