Driver charged as passenger found in car boot in Greenacre

A driver has been charged with traffic offences after one of his passengers was allegedly found in the boot of his car, when the car was stopped in Sydney’s south-west today.

About 10.30am (Sunday 13 November 2022), officers from Bankstown Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on the Hume Highway, Greenacre, following a complaint from a member of the public.

It will be alleged that 26-year-old male driver was carrying five passengers, one of whom was a woman – believed to be aged in her 30s – found inside the boot.

When the man allegedly returned positive results to both roadside breath and drug tests, he was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he underwent a secondary breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.108.

Inquiries also established that the Austral man had never held an Australian driver’s licence.

The man has been charged with drive with middle-range PCA, drive with passenger in/on part of vehicle no seatbelt etc, and never licenced person drive vehicle on road.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Monday 12 December 2022.
