Driver of stolen car arrested at Elizabeth Park, South Australia

A man has been arrested after a pursuit with a stolen car he was driving in Elizabeth Park overnight.

Just before 4.30am on Friday 26 April, patrols spotted the stolen Holden sedan on Midway Road with two occupants and tried to pull the driver over. The car took off at speed and was pursued for a short distance onto Yorktown Road and then Tolmer Road before it stopped due to mechanical issues.

The driver, a 29-year-old from Whyalla Norrie was arrested and has been taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital to be medically assessed. He is expected to be charged with illegal use, drive disqualified and fail to stop.

His female passenger was released without charge.

The car was stolen from a Renown Park address sometime overnight between 22 and 23 April.
