Drivers urged to slow down through road work sites

A 34-year-old man has been fined after being caught travelling more than 40km/h over the speed limit on the Midland Highway, Jericho.

The man was travelling at 104km/h in a 60km/h reduced speed road works zone.

Inspector Jim Semmens said police have caught 67 people speeding in that section of road in just two days.

“We’ve had officers there in a bid to reduce dangerous driving behaviour and keep our roads safer, but frustratingly we are still seeing people do the wrong thing.”

“We don’t enjoy handing out penalties, and if people made the right choices on our roads, we wouldn’t have to,” he said.

“Frustratingly, while many people in our community are supporting our road safety efforts, plenty of drivers are still not getting it.”

“Enough is enough, and police will continue to enforce the rules to help keep everyone safe on our roads.
