Northern District Police uncovered an underground drug bunker during a search at Penfield Gardens yesterday.
Police attended a property at Penfield Gardens on Tuesday 21 July to conduct a search.
During the search, police located an underground bunker concealed underneath a shed on the property. Police located 26 cannabis plaints being grown hydroponically and approximately 24kg of dried cannabis.
Under confiscation of criminal assets legislation, police also seized a RAM Laramie, a trailer, a caravan, a Seadoo and an excavator.
A 38-year-old man from Hewett was arrested and charged with trafficking in a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug, cultivate a commercial quantity of a controlled plant, possessing prescribed equipment and diverting electricity. He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 2 September.
Police attended another property at Korunye where they reported a 38-year-old woman for cultivating a commercial quantity of a controlled drug, trafficking a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug, possessing prescribed equipment and diverting electricity.
She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Investigations into the seizure are continuing.
