Northern Territory Police have seized a large quantity of Kava that was destined for West Arnhem Region communities.
On Wednesday 24 January 2024, police intercepted a large amount of Kava located in a residence in Ramingining.
A search of the residence located approximately 215kg of kava divided into deal bags concealed in suit cases and boxes in a bedroom. $3300 in cash was also located in the room believed to be profits of crime.
A 37-year-old male has been arrested and charged with:
- Possess Kava – commercial quantity
- Supply Kava – commercial quantity
He was remanded in custody and to appear in Darwin Local Court at a later date.
