Two people were arrested for drug trafficking during a police drug transit route operation at Whyalla Barson yesterday.
Between 9am and 4pm on Thursday 27 August, Whyalla Police and Traffic Services Branch, with the assistance of Police Dog Neave, stopped and inspected vehicles on the Lincoln Highway at Whyalla Barson.
Three drivers tested positive for drugs.
Police stopped a Ford station wagon about 12.30pm. The driver, a 17-year-old Yorke Peninsula boy, tested positive for methamphetamine, cannabis and cocaine.
It will be alleged when PD Neave and officers searched the vehicle, they found a pair of knuckle dusters and a trafficable quantity of suspected ecstasy tablets, bags suspected of containing cocaine and methamphetamine and other evidence of drug dealing (pictured).
He and his 18-year-old passenger, a Port Pirie man, were arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled drug.
The young driver was further charged with possess a prohibited weapon and failing to display P-plates.
They were bailed to appear in the Whyalla Youth Court on 6 October and Magistrates Court on 19 October. (223807)
About 1.15pm, a 61-year-old Whyalla Stuart man tested positive to cannabis. He was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence, pending forensic analysis.
About 3.30pm, a 52-year-old Whyalla driver was stopped and tested positive to methamphetamine. A subsequent search of his vehicle allegedly uncovered quantities of methamphetamine, cannabis and drug paraphernalia. He was reported for drug offences and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date. He was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence, pending forensic analysis. (224119)
Other results of note included a driver reported for driving while disqualified, an expiation notice, three cannabis expiation notices and one vehicle defect.
