Drugs found in hidden bunker, man charged at Griffith, NSW

A man will face court today after drugs were allegedly found hidden in an underground bunker in the state’s south west.

Yesterday (Wednesday 22 January 2020) officers from Murrumbidgee Police District’s Proactive Crime Team executed a search warrant at a home in Griffith.

Officers located and seized prohibited weapons, drugs and cash.

Following a search of the house, police moved to the rear shed and discovered a hidden underground bunker below the concrete slab of the shed.

Officers allegedly located a hydroponic setup with eight cannabis plants growing within the bunker.

A 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station, where he was charged with five counts of possess prohibited weapon, supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug, deal with proceeds of crime and cultivate cannabis by enhanced indoor means for a commercial purpose.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Griffith Local Court today (Thursday 23 January 2020).
