Drugs seized and COVID fines issued after CBD search, South Australia

Police have seized drugs and issued fines to seven people for non-compliance of current COVID-19 directions following a disturbance at a CBD apartment yesterday.

Just before 3.30pm on Thursday 19 November, police were called to an apartment block in the east of the Adelaide CBD following reports of a party and disturbance occurring.

Police attended and stopped three people who were leaving the address as they arrived.

While speaking with the group, one man has poured the contents of a bottle onto the ground. The contents were believed to be liquid fantasy.

The other two people were searched with officers locating fantasy, MDMA and drug paraphernalia.

Police subsequently conducted a search of the apartment and located more bottles containing a liquid believed to be fantasy, approximately 1.5 litres in total. Cash, scales and other drug paraphernalia were located.

Police will allege that the occupants were selling drugs from the apartment.

A 32-year-old man from Adelaide and a 27-year-old man from Parkside were charged with possessing a commercial quantity of fantasy. The Adelaide man was refused bail to appear in court today while the Parkside man was bailed to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court 10 March 2021. Both men were issued a $1060 on the spot fine for a breach of COVID-19 Emergency Management Directions.

From the incident, five other people were issued fines for a breach of COVID-19 Emergency Management Directions.

  • A 33-year-old woman from Kent Town
  • A 39-year-old man from Glenside
  • A 43-year-old man from Morphettville
  • A 34-year-old woman from Parkside
