Drugs seized in Whyalla traffic stop, South Australia

Police seized a quantity of drugs during a traffic stop at Whyalla yesterday morning.

Just after 11am, plain clothes police pulled over a car in Ian Street, Whyalla Norrie. The vehicle was searched and police allegedly located and seized about four grams of what is believed to be MDMA powder, 10 capsules of MDMA, empty capsules ready for filling and over $600 cash.

It is believed the drugs were destined for sale at a music festival in Adelaide this weekend.

A quantity of cannabis and other associated equipment was also located in the vehicle.

The driver, an 18-year-old Whyalla Norrie man, was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled drug. He was bailed to appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court on 25 February. The passenger of the vehicle, a 20-year-old Whyalla Stuart man, was also arrested on an unrelated warrant.
