Drugs seized, man arrested at Elizabeth Vale

A man has been arrested following the seizure of illicit drugs at Elizabeth Vale today.

Police will allege that the accused supplied drugs to two teenage boys and a teenage girl, who after ingesting the tablets, all needed urgent medical treatment at hospital.

Northern District police commenced an investigation to identify the source of the drugs and subsequently searched an Elizabeth Vale home this morning where they seized over 1400 ‘Xanax’ tablets.

Some of these tablets were packaged in small bags indicating they were ready for supply.

The tablets were marked as ‘Xanax’ which police have identified as fake and which actually contain a variety of illicit substances. This poses a significant risk to the community who would be unaware of what they are consuming.

An 18-year-old man from Elizabeth Vale was arrested and charged with supplying a controlled drug to a child and trafficking a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police wish to remind the public that taking any medication which hasn’t been prescribed to you by a Doctor can be dangerous and even life threatening.
