Drunk driver arrested – St Peters, South Australia

A drunk disqualified driver has been arrested after colliding with two parked cars at St Peters last night.

Just before 9pm on Wednesday 15 April, police patrols were called to First Avenue, after resident reported a white 4WD had smashed into two parked cars – pushing one into a tree, then failing to stop after the crash.

On police arrival in the street, they located the wanted white Toyota Landcruiser with accident damage to the front end, a bit further down the street from where the crashed occurred.

The police patrol spoke to the driver, who was allegedly grossly affected by alcohol. Police checks on the male revealed he was already disqualified from driving, plus breaching his bail.

The 28-year-old man from Joslin was arrested and charged with aggravated due care, driving under the influence of alcohol and breach of bail. When breath tested he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.211 or more than four times over the legal limit.

The arrested man has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at later date.

Police impounded the Landcruiser for 28 days, while two other damaged cars also needed to be towed from the scene.
