Early works to begin for a new open space at Wattle Valley Road

Demolition works of the property at 21 Wattle Valley Road will commence this week in the first stage to create open space links between Antonio Park and Yarran Dheran Reserve.

The open space will complete the final link in a beautiful linear park from Yarran Dheran to Antonio New Lands Park, create a wildlife corridor and add approximately 4742 square metres of parkland to this area.

Whitehorse Councillor Prue Cutts said this project had been driven by the local community and thanked everyone involved for getting this project off the ground.

“More work will be done to develop a draft concept plan for the area, so I encourage those interested to keep an eye out and provide input when the time comes,” Cr Cutts said.

Whitehorse Councillor Ben Stennett said the early works would involve demolishing the house, garage and shed as well as all driveways and edgings.

“This will be a fantastic community asset once completed and I look forward to working with the community throughout the project.”

Demolition will start this week and is expected to take three weeks (weather permitting).
