Eastern Beach children’s pool to reopen

The lifeguard patrol season will begin a week early at Eastern Beach, to coincide with the reopening of the children’s pool on Saturday 21 November.

The wading pool will be monitored by Life Saving Victoria (LSV) lifeguards and security, to ensure that visitors maintain their social distance and follow COVID-safe measures.

The City has secured the support of LSV to bring forward the patrol season, which would normally run from 28 November through until April.

Lifeguards will be on patrol over the weekend from 11am to 6pm.

In line with Victoria’s COVID-19 directions, all people over the age of 12 must wear a face mask unless they have a lawful reason not to. This includes while they are in the water.

Visitors must also be respectful of other people’s space and keep at least 1.5 metres distance from others.

We encourage families to limit their attendance in the pool area to an hour, to allow other visitors to safely enjoy the highly popular location.

The wading pool has undergone significant improvements over the past few months, with pool tiles replaced and a new circulation pump and pool concourse pit lids installed.

Greater Geelong Mayor Stephanie Asher

Eastern Beach Reserve has been Geelong’s premier family-friendly destination for more than 80 years. We are really pleased to be able to welcome children back to the Eastern Beach wading pool and encourage everyone to adhere to the guidelines and directions that are in place so everyone can safely enjoy this wonderful reserve. Just remember we must continue to follow the state’s COVID-safe measures.
