EDGE 2021: Art Camp on GreenWay 16 April

Inner West Council

EDGE 2021 Art Camp on the GreenWay is a 24-day onsite Artist in Residence project that will see nature and creativity converge in a dynamic, immersive arts hub on the banks of Iron Cove Bay at Lilyfield.

Designed as a COVID-19 safe experience, residents and visitors can wander through the site, meet the artists and experience the creative process.

Audiences can book in for workshops, talks and pop-up performances throughout the program.

Inner West Council Arts Projects & Partnership Leader Victoria Johnstone said Council was fueling the re-emergence of Sydney’s creative sector with EDGE 2021: Art Camp on the GreenWay.

“In the wake of 2020, our natural and creative worlds are at a similar tipping point,” she said.

“Hammered by the climate crisis and the impacts of COVID-19, we face enormous challenges to survive let alone thrive.

“In response to this, EDGE 2021 Art Camp on the GreenWay puts the Inner West creative community front and centre amidst our precious natural environment.

“This will transform the GreenWay into temporary residency spaces in pop-up shipping containers, beneath bridges and in natural nooks.

“Other residencies will be hosted by GreenWay community groups like The Wanderers and Bones Café, and in creative spaces such as Canal Road Film Centre, Art Est and The Red Box – home to Legs on the Wall.

“I urge all Sydneysiders to take advantage of this unique cultural experience,” Ms Johnstone said.
