Little hands will create incredible artworks and write stories that inspire in this year’s Threatened Species Art and Writing Competition.
The Macarthur region competition, run by Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly councils, is open to local kids aged from five to 12 years. It encourages students to learn about a local threatened plant or animal and represent it in an artwork or creative writing piece.
Kids will have their chance to win prizes valued up to $120. The primary school that has the greatest number of students that enter will also win a tray of 50 native plants from Wollondilly Community Nursery.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said she was excited to see what kids submit this year.
“The competition is now in its 16th year and we continue to be blown away by the amazing talent our local kids display,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity for kids to learn about our amazing flora and fauna, as well as the conservation work that needs to take place to ensure we have them for generations to come.”
