Educational robots gear up to rock Shoalhaven’s learning galaxy

Hold on to your circuit boards as Shoalhaven Libraries unleash a turbo-charged futuristic education with their newest stars, the educational robots called Dash.

This electrifying move not only demonstrates the library’s dedication to sparking innovative learning but also makes a quantum leap by being awarded the National Backyard Cricket Grant valued at $1400 for the second year in a row.

“It’s out-of-this-world to see Shoalhaven Libraries plunge into robotic education,” said Mayor Amanda Findley.

“These robots are like your trusty space guides into the world of programming and coding, skills essential for the galaxies of tomorrow,” Cr Findley beamed with excitement.

The robots are currently at Sanctuary Point Library, where they are the headliners of the Coding Club Program. Coding Club is where young explorers learn to code in the Scratch environment to pilot critical thinking, teamwork, and a warp-speed growth mindset. Dash robots are programmed with the Blockly App which is very similar to Scratch, so the young coders have easily learnt to move and animate the little bots.

Get ready to soar into the future, fuelled by the galaxy’s most adorable and brainy bots. Join Code Club to learn coding, collaboration, animations, stories, music and gaming every Wednesday at 4pm during school terms. Geared for kids aged 8 – 11, laptops are provided. Bookings essential. The National Backyard Cricket initiative is well-known for helping libraries all over Australia. This year, they’re giving money to 78 libraries, totalling $110,126. Shoalhaven Libraries is proud to be one of the libraries that receive help to bring in new and innovative ways to learn.
