Eggs-plore Bendigo at Easter

The City of Greater Bendigo is delighted to launch Eggs-plore Bendigo at Easter, a family-friendly and fun-packed program of events taking place from Good Friday, April 2 to Easter Monday, April 5.

In response to current COVID-19 guidelines and to keep the community safe, the four-day Eggs-plore Bendigo at Easter program has replaced the traditional Easter Festival celebrations for this year.

This alternative program, presented by the City and Bendigo TAFE and supported by Fosterville Gold and Gold Central Victoria, offers plenty of family favourites and attractions. They include Farmer Darryl’s petting zoo, carnival rides, the Rotary Art Show, traditional Chinese performances, events at the Discovery Science and Technology Centre, and much more.

Other highlights include activities and workshops for kids, a scavenger hunt, hand-made artisan experiences at Central Deborah Gold Mine, the Easter Book Fair, a Bendigo Woodturners exhibition, music and a movie in the park. The program will not include parades with the dragons or an Easter egg hunt.

Mayor Cr Jen Alden said the 2021 program had a great range of free or low-cost events to entertain families and visitors during the holidays, but it was important for people to plan ahead and book online.

“All of these events are ticketed so you will need to book early to avoid disappointment as venue numbers are capped,” Cr Alden said.

“I encourage you to browse the program and book your tickets as soon as you can because tickets will not be available at the entrance to events on the day.

“And don’t forget we will still need to keep our events COVID-safe so please bring a mask, remember to practise good hand hygiene, maintain social distancing and stay home if you are feeling unwell.

“Bendigo is very much open for business and we can’t wait to see everyone enjoying the many different activities and events on offer with Eggs-plore Bendigo at Easter at various locations across the city.

“There will also be many other ways to enjoy our vibrant city at Easter, including the Mary Quant: Fashion Revolutionary exhibition at Bendigo Art Gallery, visiting the Golden Dragon Museum and Bendigo Heritage Attractions.”

It is hoped that the 150th Bendigo Easter Fair will be celebrated in 2022 with a full program of events and activities.
